Class & Technical Requirements

For our online classes, you'll typically need a few basic items to ensure a comfortable and effective practice:

  • Yoga Mat: Essential for cushioning and grip.
  • Comfortable Clothing: Choose attire that allows for a full range of motion.
  • Water Bottle: Stay hydrated throughout your practice.
  • Props (Optional but Recommended): Yoga blocks, straps, or a blanket can enhance your practice, especially for beginners.
  • Device: A computer, tablet, or smartphone with a stable internet connection and a webcam.
  • Quiet Space: Find a peaceful area where you won't be disturbed.

While both Hatha and Vinyasa yoga are popular styles, they offer distinct experiences:

  • Hatha Yoga: Focuses on holding individual poses for longer durations, often accompanied by breathing exercises. It's generally slower-paced, emphasizing alignment and mindfulness in each posture. Great for beginners and those seeking a deeper connection to their breath.
  • Vinyasa Yoga: Known for its dynamic, flowing sequences where movement is synchronized with breath. Poses are linked together in a continuous flow, creating a more vigorous and cardiovascular practice. Each class can be different, offering variety and creative sequencing.

If you're unsure which is right for you, we encourage you to try both! Check our Classes & Programs for specific schedules.

  • Find a Quiet and Distraction-Free Space: If practicing online, choose a peaceful area where you can focus without interruptions. Inform family members or housemates of your practice time.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially before and after your class. Keep a water bottle handy during your session.
  • Practice on an Empty Stomach (or Lightly): It's generally best to avoid heavy meals 2-3 hours before practice. A light snack like a banana or a handful of nuts is fine if you need a little energy boost.
  • Arrive Early (or Log In Promptly): For in-studio classes, arrive 10-15 minutes early to settle in. For online classes, log in a few minutes before start time to check your connection and set up. Yoga studio with mats laid out and soft lighting
  • Listen to Your Body: Yoga is not about pushing yourself into extreme poses. Pay attention to your body's signals, modify poses as needed, and rest when you need to.
  • Communicate with Your Instructor: If you have any injuries, conditions, or concerns, inform your instructor before class so they can provide appropriate modifications or advice.

By following these tips, you'll be well-prepared to enjoy a rejuvenating and beneficial yoga practice with Inner Peace Yoga.
